The Barre Bliss Method
What is Barre Bliss?
The foundations of our barre method are yoga, dance conditioning, isometric movements and ballet. Unlike any other barre workouts, we combine these principles into one class to sculpt, tone and leave you feeling invigorated. We are focused on long term and sustainable results. We help you work smarter not harder. We help you get results in a nurturing, welcoming and warm environment. We know you can be a stronger, smarter and healthier you!

We truly believe that healthy and fit comes in all shapes and sizes. We have dancers, athletes, young, mature, in shape, those working on getting in shape, women and men. Barre Bliss appeals to many people for the same reasons: we challenge you, believe in you, help in your growth with our challenging approach to the mind, body and soul.
Why Barre Bliss?
Barre Bliss stresses the results of our workout through form and position. This in turn creates proper alignment strengthening your core in a proper and lasting manner. We focus control of the true center of your core through pelvic floor muscles and lower abdominal wall in order to maintain torso control and a neutral spine.
We truly value technique and proper form by helping to foster your health and well being. We will help you to set your intention and attention to achieve the physical and mental goals you have set. It is not only about how big you do something; it is also about how well you do it. Our goal is to armor you with proven techniques of Barre, Yoga, and Cycling.
OUR CLASSES WILL HELP IN STRENGTH MOVEMENTS AND GRACEFUL TRANSITIONS BASED ON PROPER ALIGNMENT METHODS. Barre Bliss will teach you property breathing, form and alignment through precise movements. You will become a better you and find the results you are searching for; whether they are in your body, mind, or soul (hopefully all three).
What does Barre Bliss mean?
Cultivating a mind/body connection through movement is what drives our format forward. We believe by doing so, you will continue your workout and progress in growth to become who you want to be. If we can have any part in this, we are truly blessed. We believe that working your body in a systematic way on your mat in your sacred space will give you that euphoric feeling of bliss. Welcome to Barre Bliss!
Barre utilizes Isometric movements which create the burn and take the muscles to fatigue which produces the shake. From an exercise science perspective, that shake and burn means that you are creating change. Isometric exercise or isometrics are a type of strength training in which the joint angle and muscle length do not change during contraction ( compared to concentric or eccentric contractions, called dynamic/isotonic movements)
In a Barre Bliss class, we focus on intention and breathe first. It sets the tone for class and gets people into their bodies. Yoga serves as a functional and effective warm up. Building internal heat and matching breath to movement. Awaking the core and back muscles helps support the focus on posture. We emphasize posture through 90% of the class and cue neutral spine. Once warm, we target the thighs, butt, calves and feet. We want to exhaust the larger muscles first and then focus on the smaller muscle groups. This promotes more caloric output and the lasting effect of the class. Depending on how much effort and attention you put into the class, the after effect can be up to several hours later.
As stated before, posture is emphasized in every exercise that you do. In addition, we target muscles that are not normally targeted in other exercise classes. Utilizing bare feet, single leg, and standing barre work exhausts all 4 sides of the legs plus strengthens the feet, ankles, and knees. Incorporating a stretch after each long set or a longer stretch sequence at the end of class will help with flexibility plus it allows the mind to stay calm. This is why Barre Bliss is such a terrific workout.
Iyengar Yoga is based on the teachings of living yoga master B.K.S. Iyengar and begins with the art and science of asanas, or yoga postures. His innovative method sets him apart from other methods of Hatha Yoga because of:
- his emphasis on standing poses,
- supported inversions and backbends that pacify the nerves,
- the use of props (such as walls, blocks, belts, chairs, blankets, weights, and other devices) to facilitate ease and depth of learning,
- specific sequencing of postures for general and therapeutic benefits, and
- careful, individualized adjustments.
In Iyengar Yoga time is spent on the development and proper alignment of each asana. A Precisely guided verbal instruction and visual demonstration helps reinforce the relationship of all parts of the body to the asana, and the asana to the breath and yoga philosophy. Sometimes, poses are held for longer periods of time.
An Iyengar Yoga teacher can guide students of all ages and physical conditions to an experience of yoga, which is safe, accessible and rewarding. Students of Iyengar Yoga begin with elementary postures and with an emphasis on the standing asanas (postures). In time, other postures are added, including forward bends and back bends, twists, inversions and restorative poses. Salamba Sarvangasana (Shoulder Balance) is introduced as soon as students are ready because of its many therapeutic benefits. Each class ends with Savasana, corpse pose or deep relaxation. Students learn to rest in a profound way, completely releasing the body while drawing the mind towards the peace within. As the student progresses, Pranayama (the control of the breath) is introduced.
